Hotel Dos Mares, Tarifa, Spain – reviewed

Hotel Dos Mares

Tarifa is a town on the coast of Spain that sits roughly where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. It has loads of great beach front property and, although there is a cute old walled city in the center of town, the beach is the place to be. It was hard to choose a hotel because there are many great sounding options in Tarifa, but I decided on Hotel Dos Mares. It sounded like it had a great location and looked cute on its website.

We couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised. The hotel that looked cute turned out to be fantastic. It’s not a five star hotel, but it had great features on top of its seaside location that made us love it. The room we stayed in was a bungalow with a very zen-like feel to it. It had a private deck, an ocean view and – although it had two twin beds pushed together into one larger bed – it had very comfortable bedding (especially for Spain). We loved the huge shower. About half of the rooms were private bungalows and the others were in the main hotel building. The hotel also boasted a pool, a nice gym, beach-front tennis court, a good restaurant and a really nice bar area. It has its own surf school and surf shop, and was clearly a destination for weekend kite surfers since the place filled up on Friday night for the weekend.
